The Spring Lake neighborhood is one of old Orlando’s most elegant suburban areas. The establishment of the Orlando Country Club in 1911-1912 on the north shore of Spring Lake preceded the subsequent residential development on the south side of the lake. Platted and annexed in 1926, City records indicate one house built as of that date. By 1940, a majority of the homes on and off Spring Lake Drive had been built.
While the boom era Mediterranean style of the 1920’s-30’s is prevalent in the Spring Lake neighborhood, adaptations of the English Cottage/ Tudor Revival style can be found along several neighborhood streets. Today, many of the old homes have been beautifully refurnished.
